Chelsea set to rival Champions League giants for £25m rated star

Premier League Champions Chelsea have been linked heavily with a transfer for Tottenham Hotspurs ace Toby Alderweireld recently but are ready to face a whole lot of competition for the Belgium international’s signature.

Barcelona keeping tabs

As per a report from the Independent, Spanish La Liga outfit FC Barcelona are also keeping close tabs on the player’s situation with the North London side, with his deal negotiations appearing to have gotten to an impasse with the side.

The defender has proven over time that he is a reliable defender and has sealed himself as a vital player for Tottenham. However, it’s been suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s club are unwilling to pay the ex-Atletico Madrid player’s wage demands.

Levy reluctant to sell

Although Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to offload the Belgian and even more so to an English Premier League direct rival, he could have to make a decision. The player is suggested to have a buyout clause of £25million ahead of the 2019 summer window, which may prompt Levy into cutting his deficits.

The Belgian is certain to be courted by a couple of sides this summer transfer window if the North London club continue to turn down his financial demands. Premier League giants Manchester United are also believed to the interested in the ex-Southampton loanee.
