According to reports, Chelsea are edging closer to agreeing to a move worth £30m+ to land AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko this New Year to address their attacking problem.
Although the Blues returned to shape in front of goal on Saturday in their 4-0 victory over Brighton, before that, they scored only a goal in four matches across all competitions.
During the period, summer signing Alvaro Morata experienced a dry spell, having failed to grab a goal in his last six matches, and with a lack of alternatives behind the Spaniard, it has seemingly led Conte’s team to consider looking towards the transfer market to strengthen the squad.
As reported by The Sun, an opening fee of £28million has been agreed on for the former Premier League striker, but the two sides still need to settle on add-ons involved in the transfer deal which will take the entire transfer fee over £30m.
Although the forward turns 32 in two months, he has proven that he is still a reliable and consistent goalscorer at a high level, having scored 39 goals in 51 matches last term.
The Bosnian international striker netted 29 Italian Serie A goals, which was good enough to earn him the best goalscorer award in Italy, while he’s scored 12 in 26 matches so far this year.
