Chelsea Player Not Ready For Backup Role

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has sent a message to club manager Maurizio Sarri after his superb performance in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Frenchman was the star of the game for Chelsea after he scored a hattrick to lead the Blues to a 5-0 away win over Dynamo Kyiv FC of Ukraine.

On his performance against the Ukrainians, Olivier Giroud pointed out to reporters that he’s not ready to accept a backup role and that he needs to play more.

Giroud had an assist for Chelsea in their 3-0 win at home to Dynamo Kyiv FC of Ukraine in the first leg of their last 16 tie before the former Arsenal striker scored a treble in the return leg in Ukraine.

The Frenchman scored twice in the first half to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead before left-back Marcos Alonso added a third goal just before halftime.

Olivier Giroud completed his treble on 59 minutes paving the way for Callum Hudson-Odoi to wrap up the convincing 5-0 win.

The 2018 World Cup winner has now scored nine goals in the Europa League after his heroics against Dynamo Kyiv.

He’s the leading goalscorer in the competition.

Giroud and Chelsea will face Czech side Slavia Prague in the next round of the competition (Europa League quarterfinals).
