Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has praised former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi for his impressive performances in the colours of the English Championship club since his transfer.
Ex-West Brom, Crystal Palace and Stoke City boss Pulis expressed his delight at the immediate impact made at Boro by John Mikel Obi during a chat with the club’s official website.
According to him, John Mikel Obi didn’t win the trophies he won at Chelsea for nothing.
John Mikel Obi has been able to boost Boro’s bid for a Premier League return with his wealth of experience having joined the Midlands club as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Teda.
Boro has lost just two of their last 12 games in the league in their quest to secure Premier League promotion.
They are in the fifth spot on the English Championship table after recording 58 points from 34 games.
The first two positions in the league qualify automatically for Premier League football ahead of next season while the next four spots will fight for the last Premier League spot via the playoffs.
John Mikel Obi was a Chelsea player for 10 years before he left to join Tianjin Teda FC of China where he spent two years.
