Chelsea Face Major Stumbling Block In Rodriguez Transfer

Real Madrid are said to be reluctant to sell James Rodriguez in January, according to reports.

Reports in Spanish outlet, Marca claim that Chelsea have encountered a major problem in their efforts to bring the Colombian to Stamford Bridge, as the Spanish giants are only ready to talk about a deal for Rodriguez at the end of the campaign.

The Blues have kept their interest in signing the 25-year-old midfielder since the last summer transfer, and are keen to swoop for the former AS Monaco man in the winter transfer window.

It is also believed that Antonio Conte is a long term admirer of Rodriguez since his days as Juventus boss and has marked him as a good replacement for wantaway Brazilian star, Oscar who is on the verge of joining Chinese Super league side, Shanghai SIPG.

James Rodriguez also seem keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu after admitting uncertainties in his future at the club but his £421m release clause is a major stumbling block for a deal to be materialised.

It is understood that the midfielder is not on good terms with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane due to his lack of chances and may drop down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
