Chelsea may have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as his agent claims that he is not leaving the Italian club despite a lot of interest from several clubs.
Reports in the summer claimed that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was really interested in bringing the defender to Stamford Bridge but failed in his attempts as Napoli were not willing to let go of their highly rated defender.
In recent months Koulibaly has been linked with a move to many clubs including Chelsea but the agent of the defender has revealed that his client never had the intention of leaving Napoli. It is reported that the 25-year-old is really focused on staying in Italy and doing very well for Napoli who are presently sixth on the Serie A table.
The Express reports that Satin the agent of Koulibaly spoke to Italian radio station and revealed his player is fully focused on Napoli.
He said “I don’t live in the past, all opportunities and negotiations have been forgotten. I look at the present and the future. Several clubs were interested in Koulibaly, but he’s a Napoli player and he’s focused on Napoli. I’m not aware of the Azzurri’s price being £67million, the President always said he wasn’t for sale.”
Napoli Chief De Laurentiis had claimed in October he had turned down about five offers for Koulibaly from Chelsea in the summer.
He said “They offered to me £30m, 35, 40, 45, 50. ‘Mr. Conte’, I said, ‘The marina is behind me, follow me’, I offered him that instead.”
