La Liga giant target Arsenal defender to replace Laporte

As per La Liga News, Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao are hoping to secure the signature of Spaniard Nacho Monreal as Aymeric Laporte moves closer to a Manchester City transfer.

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is primarily a left-back, but as a result of defensive injuries, he has been deployed at central back at parts of last campaign and a lot of this term – and the Spain international defender has impressed greatly in his new role.

The La Liga side have also targeted Inigo Martinez of Real Sociedad, but it’s most unlike Real Sociedad to offload to their rivals, so the Arsenal star may be an alternative for them.

The Gunners may be reluctant to cash in on him if they haven’t signed a replacement first.
West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has been heavily linked with a transfer to The Emirates Stadium this winter transfer window, so if Arsenal bring in the Northern Irish defender, they may be open to allowing the Spaniard leave.

Monreal, who signed for Arsenal from Spanish side Malaga back in 2013, has played 196 matches since, netting six goals and creating 13 assists.

The EFL cup, along with the UEFA Europa league are the only Cup titles that Arsenal have an opportunity of winning.
