European champions Real Madrid have concluded plans to make a move for Chelsea forward Eden Hazard in the New Year.
According to OK Diario via the Daily Express, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to break the norm by making a marquee signing when the January transfer window reopens in few weeks time.
The Spanish La Liga giants normally splash the cash during the summer transfer windows.
Real Madrid are said to be preparing a bid for Hazard in January as they see him as the long-term replacement for ex-talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club in the summer.
The Los Merengues have enjoyed a patchy form this season due to the inability to adequately replace Ronaldo after he sealed his transfer to Juventus during the summer’s transfer window.
Italian giants Juventus paid around €100m for him.
The Portuguese superstar was handed the iconic no. 7 jersey after he penned a four-year deal with the club.
Several names were mentioned in the summer but Real Madrid opted against the idea of replacing him.
Apart from Eden Hazard, PSG forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as well as Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling were all mentioned as possible replacements for the aforementioned Ronaldo.
