According to new reports in Portugal, Manchester United are edging closer to a deal for Sweden defender Victor Lindelof after Benfica’s president jetted into England for talks with the Red Devils.
22-year old Lindelof has became known popularly as one of the brightest young talents in Europe. And even striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while speaking about his fellow countryman just last month, said Lindelof is ready to make the step up for a ‘big club’.
Defender Victor Lindelof keeps attracting the attention of so many clubs in Europe, especially for his impressive performances this season at his club Benfica. The Swedish international already has 11 appearances for his country.
Portuguese outlet O Jogo reported recently that Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira is in England today to discuss Lindelof’s move to Old Trafford.
It was said further that the Portuguese club are holding out for a packaged £42m deal with United paying £37m up front for the defender. Nevertheless, more info are being awaited in regards to the deal, particularly from United’s end.
In recent weeks, the duo of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have built up a strong good partnership in the squad’s defence department. However, manager Jose Mourinho is still determined to add more strength to his defence, considering the fact that Ivorian international Eric Bailly is set to represent his country in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
