According to reports, Arsenal are ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool in the transfer saga of Thomas Lemar as they seem more ready to pay Monaco’s asking price for the talented forward.
The French youngster has shone in the French Ligue 1 and could be a good signing for any top English side, but it seems to be a two-way transfer battle between the Gunners and the Reds after this latest report from France.
The reports state that the North London club are making the forward their prime priority to replace Alexis Sanchez, who is close to becoming a free agent in a matter of months and who the Independent suggest could even join rivals Manchester City in the next couple of days.
The France international attacker fits the bill for the Gunners in terms of his playing attributes to replace the Chilean in that attacking midfield position, with his impressive pace, creativity and goal scoring instinct, making him one of the stars of the camapign last year.
Merseyside club Liverpool could also sign him to replace Philippe Coutinho after offloading the Brazilian to FC Barcelona in a big money move, but reports suggest the Reds main priority is to secure the services of Schalke star Leon Goretzka instead.
