According to a report by Italian side Calcio Mercato, North London giant Arsenal are plotting a surprise swoop for Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini.
The midfielder’s contract with the Red Devil’s is set to run out at the end of this current season and although it was widely thought that the Belgian would be offered a new deal by United, circumstances now look to have changed.
It is thought that Manchester United are willing to cash in on Fellaini during the upcoming winter transfer window in January and a transfer to Turkey has been seen as a possibility for the midfielder this winter.
Now as per a shocking report from Calcio Mercato, even English Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have joined the race to secure the services of the 29-year-old and could make a switch for the big midfielder when the winter transfer window opens in the New year.
Given his distinct and rather awkward style of play, the £80,000-a-week footballer does not seem to fit in with the Gunners free-flowing brand of football, but having said that, Arsene Wenger’s team have been in search of a midfield hardman for sometimes now and Marouane Fellaini could possibly do a good job for the North London club if handed the role to protect the defenders.
