The former English Champions took on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in order to decide the winner of the International Championship Cup in Asia.

The Reds are in a good run of form after a 2-0 defeat to Frank De Boer’s Crystal Palace side who completed the signing of Ruben Loftus Cheek from English giants Chelsea.

It was the Leicester side that took the lead before Liverpool fired two goals to claim a 2-1 win. With an impressive International Championship Cup for Jurgen Klopp’s side Liverpool is certainly a side to watch in the new season.

We take a look at some match features and significance lessons from Liverpool comeback win.

LIVERPOOL MAKES A STATEMENT

The Anfield side shows that they are in for a big season as they came from a goal down to beat Leicester City in the Pre-Season friendly game. It was really impressive as the duo of Salah and want away Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho gave the Liverpool side an undisputed ascendancy in the game.

It was genuine quality and shear class as Coutinho struck his trade mark goal to seal a two 1(2-1) win. Liverpool is likely in for a good season and the confidence among the mix is really rising by the days with the magnificent performance of the attacking duo of Coutinho and Salah.

Imagine how efficient the Liverpool side will be when Senegalese forward Sadio Mane fully returns to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool Squad.

LEICESTER OFF THE MARK

The English Champions might have enjoyed the plaudits and the euphoria of winning the Premier League ahead of runners up and London side Tottenham Hotspur but at the moment the Foxes are lacking in the ingredients and quality to complete among the best team especially in the Premier League.

The exit of N’golo Kante to Chelsea and the uncertainty of Riyad Mahrez future at the club have a kind of downplayed the teams ability to replicate their impressive performance en route to the Premier League trophy.

Despite taking the lead through signing Islam Slimani the Leicester side lacked the capacity to keep the Liverpool side at bay and they paid dearly for it with two quick goals from Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho.

LAST DITCH DEFENDING

The Liverpool side was 2-1 ahead in the game after Coutinho delivered a soccer punch to the Leicester City. However, Craig Shakespare side deserved some credit for their efforts in the contest as forward Jamie Vardy was sent through on goal in the Liverpool box.

Liverpool had a last ditch intervention from center back to preserve their lead as Vardy set himself up nicely with the goal at his mercy. It was a defining moment in the match as it would have given the contest another twist with Vardy in pole position to punish the Liverpool goal.

That form of defending and well timed tackle is what Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side needs more often in match situations if they are to withstand the threat of the Chelsea side that got a terrific forward line in the trio of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Spanish winger Pedro Rodriguez in transition coupled with the quality of the other big side in the Premier League and in Europe as well as they aim to achieve their ambitions next season.
