Arsenal manager speaks on January transfer move for 22-year-old attacker

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to speak on the club’s possible interest in Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling according to the dailystar.

Arsenal were strongly linked with a swoop to sign the 22-year-old in the summer but a deal failed to be completed despite his representative hinting the pacey attacker would be open to a transfer.

Raheem Sterling’s prospective transfer to the Emirates looked to hinge on Chilean Alexis Sanchez sealing a controversial move to the Eastlands club from the North London club in the most-recent summer transfer window.

Alexis Sanchez failed to complete his move to the Etihad before deadline day but could still seal a move to City having entered the last 12 months of his Arsenal contract.

Indeed, the Chilean international could depart Arsenal for free next summer unless the Gunners can seal a new contract with Alexis Sanchez.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side would surely be reluctant to let the England international to depart the Etihad given his brilliant start to the League season.

The 22-year-old has netted seven goals and has assisted two goals in eight English Premier League matches, while the attacking midfielder has scored three goals in three UEFA Champions League matches including the fourth goal in a 4-2 victory at Italian Serie A side Napoli mid-week.

The Gunners will visit League leaders Manchester City in the English Premier League on Sunday.
