Former United player Gary Neville is not happy with the section of the Manchester United fans who booed Marouane Fellaini as he was warming up at Old Trafford during the 1-0 Sunday’s victory over Tottenham.
Fellaini dipped himself inside a wide pool of criticism last weekend after he caused a late penalty as United draw 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park.
While United are leading 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, coach Jose Mourinho sent Fellaini to warm up. His appearance on the sidelines however sparked a series of jeers from some of the Manchester United fans.
The Sky Sports commentator was not impressed to see that reaction from some of the home fans at Old Trafford and while speaking during Sky Sports‘ live coverage of the game, he said:
“United fans are booing Marouane Fellaini. That’s poor.
“Some of them have started to clap because you don’t want to see United fans booing players when they’re warming up here.
“It’s poor to see. He may not be their favourite player but that’s a step too far.”
The Belgian international was eventually introduced into the game as a late substitute and Mourinho’s boys held on to secure the 3 points from Spurs. They are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
