Conte has instructed John Terry to focus more on playing rather than coaching for now.

Following earlier revelations from the English veteran that he is pondering on switching to football management. The Italian boss has said he should do more on the pitch than planning his retirement already.

The 47-year-old  said: “John has great experience.

“But now it’s important to be focused to play because, for now, he’s a footballer.

“In the future he can take this decision to become a manager. I think he can, for sure.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that the English FA will offer their former skipper an early route into management by giving him a position in England development teams alongside Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Paul Scholes.

Terry had earlier being stripped of his captaincy armband on two occasions, he was initially demoted after his altercation with Wayne Bridge for his relationship with the former Blues teammate’s ex-girlfriend. On the second occasion, it was due to his racial abuse towards Anton Ferdinand and was banned for four matches and also hit with a fine of £220,000, even though he never agreed to have committed the offence.

Terry is currently being sidelined for Chelsea’s match againt West Brom this weekend.
