While summer approaches, new reports have it that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has asked Russian club owner Roman Abramovich to bring money to the table for Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata.
AS stated that the talented striker has already made the choice to leave the Madrid club at the end of this season after growing frustrated at his inability to get regular playing time in Zinedine Zidane’s team.
It is also said that while the 24-year-old only rejoined Real last summer following a successful two-year period with Serie A side Juventus, he is set to seek a new challenge after realising that he may never be able to bench Frenchman Karim Benzema.
Also, it was added that the Stamford Bridge club will have to pay £65million if they want to get the signature of the superb striker.
Alvaro Morata is a superb player and despite his lack of playing time, he still got impressive stats this season at Madrid. This season so far in 19 appearances for the Madrid club (nine as a starter), he has scored eight goals in the La Liga, with two assists.
WHAT IF CHELSEA SHOULD GET HIM?
Now if Chelsea were to sign the Spanish player, it is obvious he won’t want to be playing second fiddle to Diego Costa (as that is the major reason he’s leaving Real Madrid). Nevertheless, since Costa is rumoured to leave the west London club in the summer, then his Spanish compatriot might end up being Conte’s main centre forward come next season.
Many Chelsea supporters are already in love with Costa, and they wonder if Morata can make them happy as Costa.
Considering the duo’s statistics in their respective leagues this current campaign, Morata, despite playing fewer minutes, actually comes out on top in all except just one category: shot accuracy (though he trails Costa by just a single percentage)
