Germany and Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels has described Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan as one of the best players he has ever played with.
Hummels played with the 27-year old Armenian star at German club Borussia Dortmund and saw how his former teammate destroyed opposition defences in the German Bundesliga with 11 goals and 15 assists during the 2015/16 season before he went on to win the Player of the Year award for his stellar performances.
Speaking on Mkhitaryan and his limited chances under manager Jose Mourinho at 20-time English champions Manchester United since he made a £26.3m move to Old Trafford. He said: “I saw part of the game against Feyenoord. I saw part of the game against West Ham.”
“There he was – always good, as he is always when he is on the pitch.
“He played at that level (raises his hands) all of last year. If you let him play, you will see how good he is. I am 100 per cent sure of this.
“He is one of the best I have played with. But if you can’t play, you can’t shine. It’s easy! It’s really easy!”
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has found life tough at his new club and this was further highlighted by the fact that he only made his second league start in the game against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
