Premier League giants Chelsea have been rocked by the news that Willian could leave the club despite the Blues’ desire to retain his services at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian international winger is said to be unhappy with the new contract offer from Chelsea according to the publication from UOL.
The Brazilian media outlet revealed that Willian has been offered a one-year contract extension but the former Shakhtar Donetsk star wants a three-year contract that will secure his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
His current Chelsea contract does not run out until the end of next season.
Chelsea have a one-year contract renewal policy for players over the age of 30 and Willian falls within that category.
The 30-year-old is an important player for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri which explains why the Blues fought off the interest of French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) for him.
Willian has featured in 23 of the 24 league games at Chelsea since Sarri took over at the start of the season.
PSG targeted Willian as a like-for-like replacement for his compatriot Neymar who is currently injured.
Neymar will miss the upcoming Champions League doubleheader with Manchester United as a result of a serious foot injury after he was ruled out for 10 weeks.
