Virgil van Dijk

When Liverpool signed the Netherlands international, Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton at the sum of £75 million, many football critics were quick to slam them for making such an exorbitant payment for a defender.

Well, 10 months after the transfer was made, Virgil Van Dijk has not only proved his critics wrong but has made the Reds defense line stronger.

Van Dijk as a player has every attribute expected of a defender, he is strong, he can tackle, he calculates every move amongst other qualities.

The Netherland international is a leader of men and has affected most of the Reds player around him especially Joe Gomez and Alex Trent.

Van Dijk’s performance for Liverpool has earned him applause from football lovers around the world with the latest one coming from BBC pundit, Chris Sutton.

Chris Sutton in a statement said that Virgil Van Dijk is the third best player in the world after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The BBC pundit added that there is hardly any ‘attribute you need as a defender that he does not have – he is quick, strong, consistent and he does not seem to lose his concentration.’

For the first time, someone is placing Virgil Van Dijk over Eden Hazard – who is mostly mentioned as the best player after Ronaldo and Messi.
