Middlesbrough new signing Patrick Bamford has revealed he is still open to Chelsea.

The 23-year-old striker completed £10million move to Boro following his dry spell with Burnley, having failed to make the cut at the Stamford Bridge.

However, Bamford has not given up on playing for the Blues.

He told Talksport: ‘I was so happy to come back here to Middlesbrough,

‘But I’m not closing the door on Chelsea. You never know what will happen in the future, depending on how well I do.’

Bamford’s chances at the Stamford Bridge still remain slim due to the presence of Diego Costa who is in blistering form so far this season and has even kept Michy Batshuayi out of the squad, he joined Chelsea just last summer for a £33 million fee.

The Blues have a history of letting their potential youngsters leave the club due to the availability of better options but has recalled some of them the  recent being Nemanja Matic who returned to the Stamford Bridge from Benfica and has done well since his return. There are also reports that Romelu Lukaku could return to Stamford Bridge after the blues allowed him leave for Everton two seasons.

Bamford has never featured for the Blues on a senior level but is regarded as a bright talent by the club.

Batshuayi has been tipped to leave the Stamford Bridge in search of better first team opportunities and a host of clubs have shown interest in him.
