Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that summer signing Alexandre Lacazette will be sidelined for the next couple of weeks after the striker went under the knife.
Swollen knee
The France international striker left Wembley Stadium last Saturday after the 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the North London derby with a swollen knee and immediately had surgery to correct the damage.
The French tactician confirmed the injury news this week and disclosed that the forward would surely not be fully fit to play when they play Swedish club Ostersund in the last 32 of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
And Wenger confirmed that the former Lyon man is likely to be out of action for only a month.
Top four target
Arsenal might take the UEFA Europa League seriously this term as they look very unlikely to end the season in the top four.
Indeed, their loss in the North London derby last Saturday left them in sixth position and eight points adrift City rivals, Chelsea.
Arsenal will be trying to follow in United’s footsteps and seal a spot in next campaign’s UEFA Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League this term.
Wenger’s team finished in the fifth position last season and won the Emirates FA Cup under Arsene Wenger.
