Barcelona refuse to give up, table £114.2 million offer for Liverpool star

Spanish giant FC Barcelona have reportedly submitted a new offer of £114.2m for Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho.

The Catalan club is desperate to sign the Brazilian after cashing in on Neymar Jr to big spending Paris Saint Germain and could be ready to go as high as £118.7m to bring Coutinho to Spain.

Jurgen Klopp has declared that the Brazilian is not for sale, despite submitting a formal transfer request last week.

Barcelona presented £36.5m signing, Paulinho on Thursday afternoon, but they will not give up on the 25-year-old midfield maestro, who is desperate to line up alongside Argentine Lionel Messi and Uruguayan Luis Suarez at Camp Nou.

The Reds have already turned down one offer worth £90m for the playmaker and insist that he will stay at the Club beyond this summer transfer window.

However, the La Liga club is keen on strengthening their squad following the £198m sale of Neymar Jr to big spending PSG and a humiliating 5-1 aggregate loss in the hands of their fiercest rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

They also want to bring in Ousmane Dembele, although officials at the German Bundesliga club have declared untrue that a transfer deal has been agreed.

Reports suggest Barcelona had thrashed out a deal worth an initial £90m, and £27.3m in add-ons.
