There are new reports that Manchester United could agree to a new deal for England international Luke Shaw any moment from now.
This would come as a big surprise to everyone since we were convinced the Englishman is bound to depart Old Trafford this summer.
The former Southampton player struggled for regular playing time last term under manager Jose Mourinho, and it is believed he is not in the good page of the Portuguese boss.
However, Manchester Evening News made it known that the red devils are no longer interested in signing a new left-back and are set to retain the 22-year-old.
Manager Jose Mourinho is expected to work with Ashley Young as first-choice left-back next term and will make Luke a secondary option.
Ashley’s current deal with the red devils will expire in 2019 and we don’t expect Man United to offer him a new deal that will extend his stay at the Theater of Dreams – due to his age.
This means, should 22-year-old Luke will agree to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, he stands a chance to replace his countryman.
He moved to the Theater of Dreams in 2014 from Southampton and has played just 66 games for them so far. Last season, he was able to start just 8 English top-flight games as he sits on the bench most of the times.
