Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has declined to put a timeline on Brazil international David Luiz’s return to the squad as he insists the defender is out with an injury.
This is despite a video from the Blues’ YouTube channel showing Luiz seemingly involved in training in what seems to be a recent training session.
As per a report by the Daily Express, Premier League giant Manchester United are keen on David Luiz as he no longer seems to be part of Antonio Conte’s plans after missing some games recently.
The former Paris Saint-German center-half was not previously injured as he saw the victory over Jose Mourinho tutored Manchester United from the stands with fans, but has since had problems with his knee.
The Chelsea boss insisted that is still the issue in his latest pre-match press conference, saying: ‘ [David] Luiz and Charly Musonda are out for Newcastle match. Belgian Batshuayi and Brazilian Kenedy have just started to train with the team. They need some time to find the best physical shape.
‘Now he (David Luiz) is having treatment on his knee [injury].
Conte admitted that it is difficult to say exactly how long the Brazilian will be sidelined for, and claimed he has not been reading about the player’s transfer speculation.
