Although he has resigned from being in charge of the club, former Arsenal star Paul Merson says he still sees the Arsene Wenger spirit and attitude in the current team under Unai Emery.
In his opinion, nothing has changed so far as the lack of force and intensity, same as was witnessed in the Wenger era is still in full course.
This is coming after Emery vowed to improve the force of the players and has put in place the pressing style of football. This has obviously not been noticed by the former Gunners.
He backed up his claim by citing the inconsistency in performance and leaky defence which are yet to be solved by the new manager.
What Chelsea 23-year-old loan player said about returning to Stamford Bridge
He claims not to have noticed the presence of a new manager as all that is being exhibited in what was in place during the Wenger era.
Merson therefore, maintain that fresh faces are needed in the Arsenal team to help the current boss effect the needed changes.
With two consecutive defeats and wins in their last four league games, Arsenal will have to do more when they return from the international break to be able to convince critics that a new era is here to stay and this must reflect in the results and position on the log table.
A qualification for next year’s Champions League will be the biggest achievement of the Emery’s side who are to challenge in the Europa League this season.
