Revealed: Man United Tried To Sign Kylian Mbappe
Manchester United tried to sign Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, hours before the end of summer transfer window, reports say.
The French sensation has been touted as one of the best youngsters in Europe, following his brilliant performances since his breakout season with AS Monaco.
Manchester United were believed to be after a central defender during the transfer window, with several reports of rejected bids for various centre-backs.
However, Jose Mourinho also had the intention of signing a winger before the end of the window, after hailing the performances of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.
Reports in The Mirror claim that United’s CEO Ed Woodward made an audacious attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe just before the end of transfer business.
It is understood that Woodward is becoming increasingly concerned about the age range in the club’s squad and believes bringing in young players will help their structure.
Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial have been linked to making imminent moves away from the Old Trafford this summer, but it is unlikely that United will allow them to leave despite reports that Mourinho will not mind losing any of them due to their disagreements. Pogba was on the verge of a move to Barcelona but United squashed the move.
