According to reports, Swansea City are planning to make a move for Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson in the last weeks of the current summer transfer window.
Jenkinson, 25, has been deemed surplus to requirements at the North London club for some time and almost sealed a £5m transfer to Premier League side Crystal Palace in January, only for the transfer to fall through at the last minute.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to offload some players this summer to trim down his current team and free up enough money and space for new signings, with the players like Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs all thought to be linked with a move away.
As per The Mirror, defender Jenkinson is one of Swans manager Paul Clement’s primary targets and could even settle for a loan transfer deal if terms on a permanent transfer cannot be agreed.
The two-time West Ham loanee has also as per report been on the radar of Newcastle United and Brighton, as well as Italian sides Cagliari, Sassuolo and Hellas Verona this summer transfer window.
Jenkinson joined the Gunner from Charlton Athletic back in 2011 and has since played just 38 league matches for Arsene Wenger’s side.
