Eder Militao

It was Manchester United who first showed interest in Porto’s defender Eder Militao but the Red Devils didn’t make any official bid for his signature.

Manchester Evening News reported last week that Solskjaer is looking to sanction Marcos Rojo’s move out of Anfield in order to add the quality defender to his defensive setup.

Some days after United’s speculated interest in the 21-year-old centre-back, the report emerged from Spain that Real Madrid were also keen to bring him to Santiago Bernabeu.

Don Balon reported last Wednesday that the Los Blancos have tabled a £45m offer for the Brazilian star so as to beat the Red Devils in the race for his signature.

The Spanish outlet went a bit further by claiming Santiago Solari has reached a pre-contract agreement with Militao and the European Champions could announce his signing this week.

However, latest report suggests Jurgen Klopp is looking at the prospect of beating both clubs to Militao’s signature.

The Reds —who are leading the race for this year’s Premier League glory — are facing many injury crises at the moment and Klopp is set to spend big on two defenders this month.

Daily Star said that Klopp isn’t certain to spend up to £45m on the South American star, though, he has told his employers to compete with United and Madrid for the player.

The 21-year-old defender started his career with Brazilian star Sao Paolo before heading to Europe in 2017.

He completed a £3m move to Porto where he shocked the world with great performances at the heart of defence.
