According to Steve Nicol, Jose Mourinho will dump Romelu Lukaku when Zlatan Ibrahimovic is finally back from his injury.
Nicol believes some of Mourinho’s recent actions has shown he doesn’t trust the Belgian enough, drawing attention to the fact that the Portuguese tactician didn’t allow the former Everton striker take a penalty recently.
The 24-year-old moved to Old Trafford this summer and has missed several chances in big games. Despite his impressive performances at the start of the term, he has seen his goal scoring record dry up in recent weeks, and Jose Mourinho is now eight points behind Pep Guardiola in the premier league.
Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to be fully back to fitness next month, and the manager will have to consider his options – which should get Lukaku worried.
Craig Burley also agreed with Nicol that Lukaku will be dropped, and Craig even believes Marcus Rashford is good enough to take his place in the first team.
According to Burley, what manager Jose Mourinho needs right now is to get good results and earn the points, and not just sentiments.
Lukaku on his part will try to get back to the good books of everyone when his side clash with Newcastle United this Saturday at Old Trafford.
