Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is desperate to have Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic Savic at the Old Trafford.

Mourinho is a big fan of the player and he is ready to break the club’s transfer record to sign him having received the backing of the club.

The United boss demonstrated his strong desire to have the player by travelling to East Europe to watch Savic play for Serbia against Montenegro.

The UEFA Nations League ended 2 – 0 in favour of Serbia.

Savic would have been a Red Devil by now should his asking price had not increased as the Portuguese manager made an attempt to sign him at the summer.

With United struggling at the moment, the former Chelsea boss has made it clear the star midfielder would be tempted to the Old Trafford in the January window.

However, Mourinho’s Chelsea pal Mateja Kezman is expected to be influential on the matter as the United manager hopes on his past relationship.

Kezman was the first recruit by Mourinho to England when he first joined Chelsea and luckily for the Portugues boss, his former player is the current agent of the Lazio midfielder.

However, the final decision is expected to be made by the club as they will find it difficult to release the player.
