Ozil will be out of contract at Arsenal next summer and will be available as a free agent at the end of this season if he fails to put pen on paper for a new deal with the North London club.
As things stand now, the Germany international is yet to agree to a new deal with the gunners and will be free to begin talks with other clubs when January comes.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has once said his side could be open to offers for the 29-year-old in January, but a few days ago, the French boss insisted the player won’t be sold in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The former Real Madrid player has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, and there were speculations he is interested in reuniting with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese tactician himself is yet to publicly confirm the links, but was asked on Friday if his side would be interested in signing the German as a free agent next summer – to which he simply replied: ‘No comment’.
And when he was also asked about Mesut’s decision to finish his contract at the Emirates Stadium, Jose said every player have the right to do that.
The former Chelsea boss is said to be keen on signing a new playmaker next year due to the unimpressive form of Herinkh Mkhitaryan.
