Chelsea target’s buyout clause set to be increased to £195million

According to reports, Inter Milan forward and Chelsea target Mauro Icardi is set to sign a new deal at the San Siro club with a staggeringly high buyout clause.

Recently, the Sun linked Chelsea with an interest in Argentine Icardi, while Don Balon list the striker among a number of FC Barcelona transfer targets, and another report from the same publication, Don Balon, claims interest from Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid.

He is unsurprisingly in demand after a great run of form in the Italian Serie A this campaign, Inter Milan now seem to be responding to the several speculations by doing all they can to make sure they hold on to the striker.

The Argentina international striker is a valuable player as the club looking to re-establish itself as a major force in Italy and entire Europe after a tough few years in the wilderness.

Icardi has netted 15 goals in 14 Serie A games this campaign, giving the side their first shot at the league title for many years.

As per Don Balon, this has prompted Inter Milan to look to tie Icardi, 24, down to a new contract with a buyout clause of a staggering £195million.

The release clause would surely scare most teams, even in today’s transfer market, with the Blues current club-record buy only £60million after their signing of Spain international striker Alvaro Morata in the summer, as per BBC Sport.
