Premier League giant Manchester United could turn their attention to Bayern Munich midfield maestro Arturo Vidal with a deal for one of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic or Spur’s Eric Dier looking unlikely.
United manager Jose Mourinho is eager to sign a central midfielder this summer transfer window, but he has so far failed in his quest.
According to The Sun, Nemanja Matic had been handed permission to pursue a potential transfer to Old Trafford, but United are still not willing to match his £50m asking price.
Spur’s Eric Dier is also keen on joining Jose Mourinho tutored side next season, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has placed a similar £50m valuation on the midfielder.
As a result of the high price tags, United are looking into a move for Bayern midfielder Vidal, who is willing to move to the Premier League this summer transfer window, according to The Star.
The former Juventus midfielder is also attracting interest from Serie A side Inter Milan, but the chance of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season could lure him to Old Trafford.
Manchester United won EFL Cup, and Europa League double during Jose Mourinho’s first season in-charge of United, and the former Chelsea boss will be looking to win major honours this season with the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League set to be his top priority.
The Portuguese reportedly wants to sign at least one more player this month but admits the club will not overpay for their targets in the summer transfer window.
