Manchester United were on the verge of completing world record move for Barcelona forward, Neymar last summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian superstar is currently on the verge of a mega transfer move to join Paris Saint Germain from Barca after weeks of speculations that the attacker wants to leave Spain in a bid to stop being in the shadows of Lionel Messi.
It is understood that Neymar has been pushing for a move since last summer and even held talks with few top clubs in Europe as he wants to sign for a team built around him.
According to French outlet, L’Equipe United were in contact with Neymar last summer over a potential deal and even agreed to pay his €190 million release clause which existed in his prior contract with Barcelona before he signed a new deal that increased the clause to €222 million.
The report also claimed that the Red Devils also agreed personal terms with the Brazilian only for him to have a last-minute change of heart, changing his mind as renewed his deal with the Catalan giants.
Paris Saint Germain were believed to have been worried that Neymar could pull off same stunt this summer but it appears the former Santos star has resolved to join the French giants this summer.
