Manchester United star player Daley Blind has not started any of his side’s last 11 English top flight games, and there are new reports that he fears his career at Old Trafford is coming to an end, despite the red devils preparing to trigger an extension in his contract.
The defender moved to Old Trafford for £14m in 2014 when Louis van Gaal was still boss at the club, but hasn’t been playing regularly since Jose Mourinho took over the mantle of leadership at Manchester United last year.
This term, he has started just three top-flight games, even though he is being given more playing time in the Champions League.
Blind’s current contract with Man United is meant to expire next summer, and he would be allowed to begin discussing a pre-contract agreement with other sides when January comes – but Man United won’t let this happen, and will be triggering the clause in his contract.
Still yet, The Times made it known that the Dutchman believes he will be sold by the red devils next summer.
Jose Mourinho’s side are set to trigger the one-year option they have on his contract, which will tie him down to the club till 2019.
But it was added that Man United are only triggering his contract extension so as to preserve his value and won’t want to lose him for anything.
