Luka Jovic

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic has emerged as a transfer target for European champions Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper AS claim that the Champions League holders see Luka Jovic as a long-term replacement for French striker Karim Benzema.

The former Lyon attacker is entering the twilight of his football career and the Los Merengues have targeted Luka Jovic as the man to replace him at the club.

Karim Benzema was a key member of the Real Madrid team that won three successive Champions League titles under the guidance of French football legend Zinedine Zidane between 2016 and 2018.

Zidane resigned from his post as the Real Madrid head coach last summer some weeks after he led the Spanish giants to the last of those Champions League titles.

The Frenchman was replaced by Julen Lopetegui who last just three months in the job due to the team’s underwhelming start to the season.

Former player and Academy coach Santiago Solari replaced Lopetegui in October.

Luka Jovic is on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Portuguese club Benfica and he has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League leaders Liverpool for the better part of the last three months.

The Serbian attacker has been in devastating form for Frankfurt and he’s the leading goalscorer in the German Bundesliga with 13 goals.
