Liverpool Linked With €50m La Liga Defender

Premier League giants Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for highly-rated Spanish La Liga defender Diego Llorente just few weeks before the start of the winter transfer market.

Football Facts reveal that the Reds have stepped up their interest in him as they try to boost their defensive options following the injury to English international centre-back Joe Gomez.

The Englishman suffered a leg fracture in the Premier League game at the home of Burnley and he will be out for at least six weeks as a result of the injury.

He sustained the injury in a collision with Burnley defender Ben Mee.

Joe Gomez got injured in the first half of the game and was swiftly replaced by compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool came from behind to beat Burnley 3-1.

Diego Llorente could be a direct replacement for Joe Gomez in the Liverpool defence.

The Spaniard has a €50m release clause in his Real Sociedad contract but La Liga giants Real Madrid can get him for half of that as part of the transfer that took him to his current club from the Los Merengues.

Real Sociedad, however, rate the defender at €80m.
