West Ham player Jack Wilshere has explained the reason why he decided to quit his former club Arsenal.

Wilshere left the North London side in the summer to end his 17 years marriage with Arsenal.

The former Gunners stated that he was not guaranteed a first-team role under new manager Unai Emery who just joined the club in same summer.

According to him, it would have been a different situation should former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had stayed with the club stating that he was confident he would have had a space in the French manager’s team.

The Arsenal academy graduate stated that he had conversations with Wenger before they both left the team and he was assured to stay and fight for a place which he had listened to because of the faith he has in the boss.

However, Arsenal started the season without the manager and the midfielder with Unai Emery and Lucas Torriera coming in to replace the duo.

Wilshere was initially tipped to form a part of the Arsenal future but that has since faded away with the player’s dip in form as a result of the varying injuries he had suffered.

It has been a new life for Wilshere at West Ham while Wenger is yet to secure a deal with speculations that he could end at Bayern Munich in January.
