English Championship club Leeds United have reportedly joined Scottish Premiership giants Rangers in the race to sign highly rated winger Ryan Kent this summer.

This is according to the publication from the stables of Yorkshire Evening Post which claimed that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa wants to sign Ryan Kent to boost his squad ahead of the new Championship season.

The target for Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United ahead of the new season is automatic promotion to the Premier League from the English Championship next season having missed out on promotion via the playoffs during the just concluded campaign.

Leeds United were in the top two for the majority of the season before dropping to third position for the final weeks of the season.

A top-two spot would have sealed automatic promotion for the former Champions League semi-finalists.

Leeds United were beaten in the playoff semifinals by Derby County.

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent spent last season on loan at Rangers and he went on to win the Young Player of the Year Award in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are pushing for a permanent transfer for the young Liverpool winger but Leeds United are hopeful that successes recorded by another Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson at Derby County would favour them ahead of favourites Rangers in their pursuit of Ryan Kent.
