As per reports from El Confidencial reporter Kike Marin, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is close to a pre-contract deal with English Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Ozil has since racked up impressive assist figures for the North Londoners, though the club’s recent revival with their German sidelined through injury has led some Arsenal supporters to question if they could be better off without the 28-year-old playmaker.

Several clubs are believed to maintain a keen interest in luring Mesut Ozil away from the Emirates Stadium, whether he be on a free agent next summer, or in a reduced-price deal later in January.

Inter Milan made their interest for the midfielder public last week, while Fenerbahce are known to be interested in the talents of Ozil.

However, Manchester United has been the most surprising side touted as Mesut Ozil’s potential destination.

Reports linking Jose Mourinho’s team with a transfer for Arsenal star first started during the summer, when several publications claimed that the playmaker had given his word to the Red Devils on a free transfer next year.
