Manchester City Hijack £68m Move For Manchester United Target

Manchester United will battle Manchester City for the signature for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has been tipped to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer due to his lack of chances under Zinedine Zidane, drawing interest from several clubs in Europe.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to Rodriguez, with reports that Mourinho is keen on having Rodriguez at the Old Trafford next season in a bid to reinforce his squad this summer.

Reports in Spanish outlet Diario Madrista claim that United have intensified their efforts to see the Colombian join them this season.

The report also claim that Manchester City have also joined in the pursuit of Rodriguez and are ready to battle United’s offer for the midfielder.

It is understood that Rodriguez is keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and would fancy a move to the Premier League with either of the Manchester sides being his possible destination.

Manchester City could have the upper hand in a potential deal due to an assurance of playing in the Champions League next season while Manchester United are still in the balance about playing in the competition next season.

Chelsea were favourites to sign the Colombian last January window, but Real Madrid refused to sell the star and told him he can leave this summer.
