Everton boss Ronald Koeman has informed midfielder Ross Barkley to make a decision over his future amid speculations over his future.
The 23-year-old is yet to decide on his future at Goodison Park, drawing interest from several clubs in the Premier League with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur leading the pursuit.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has now come out to reveal that the club does not have the luxury of waiting on the player and asked him to decide whether he wants to commit his future at Everton or move on with just one year on his current deal.
He said: “Still one week, time for him to decide. The board is working a long time for Ross to stay for a long period.
“It’s up to the player but we don’t wait until August. We need an answer if he will accept the contract or we sign a player.
“If he leaves it so long you have doubts. I like to work with players who want to stay.
“I don’t know, it’s up to the player, he needs to make a decision.”
Everton have tried to fend off interest from other clubs by offering Barkley a new contract in the last three months but he has stalled on renewing his deal.
