Philippe Coutinho has grown to be a reputed personnel at Anfield and was regarded by many as the most influential player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad the last term.
Considering his fine form, the Brazilian star has emerged as a target for La Liga heavyweights Barcelona this summer with the Camp Nou club keen on adding more quality to their squad after a disappointing campaign.
In a new development, according to new reports in Spain, the Spanish club are understood to have cooled their transfer pursuit of the Samba star after switching focus.
Obviously, Liverpool fans will be delighted to hear the news as they can’t imagine their star player not around to help face next season’s busy campaign.
A news outlet in Spain (Sport) claimed the player privately told Barcelona he would be happy to join them this summer and the club’s representatives met with the player’s agent in Brazil last week and held positive talks.
However, Liverpool remained adamant on a €90million asking price, and that has reportedly put the Spanish heavyweights off and they will now turn their attentions to PSG’s Marco Verratti.
Verratti has already decided he wants to move to Camp Nou and would cost much less than Coutinho.
Last season in 36 appearances for Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho scored 14 goals and provided 9 assists to help the Anfield club qualify for the Champions League.
