Chelsea are plotting a shock bid for one of the best midfielders on the Premier League (PL) scene according to various reports coming out of the British media.
The Daily Mail revealed that the Blues want to boost their midfield options with the signing of Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Former European champions Chelsea are keen to snap up the 26-year-old before the end of the winter transfer window.
The current January transfer window is scheduled to end at 11 pm British time on Thursday.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has become a key player for London club Watford since he signed for the Hornets from French Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2016.
The French midfielder came through the ranks at Rennes before making his first team debut in 2012.
Since signing for Watford in 2016, Doucoure has scored 11 goals in 77 appearances for his club in the Premier League.
He was named the Hornets’ player of the season in the last campaign after a series of impressive outings for the London club.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has been attracting the interest of several European heavyweights including Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Arsenal.
He talked about his desire to leave Watford amidst intense PSG transfer rumors at the start of this year.
