Arsenal have been dealt a major blow in their transfer plans following reports that Atletico Madrid are planning a major swoop for Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners are finding it hard to hold onto Sanchez who has refused to sign a new deal with the clubs, with suggestions that the forward is frustrated at the team’s performances in recent years. There are strong indications that Arsenal will not sell the 28-year-old to any of their rivals in the Premier League and might force a move abroad.
Atletico are understood to be set to sign Sanchez this summer as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann who is set for a summer move to the Old Trafford this summer, according to reports in the Mirror.
Reports in The Sun also claim that the Spanish side are eyeing a move for Alexandre Lacazette who is also a target for the Gunners as they prepare for life after Griezmann who is believed to have agreed a £280,000-a-week deal to move to the Old Trafford this summer.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone is said to be a keen admirer of Lacazette’s abilities and is confident that the French forward will join them next season after the 24-year-old confirmed that he wants Champions League football next season.
