Premier League giants Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow in the chase of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj following the news that there’s a clause that prevents the Blues from signing players from the Italian Serie A outfit.
The clause was made known by Mario Giuffredi during his recent interview with Italian news portal Calciomercato.
Mario Giuffredi is the agent of Albanian international right-back Elseid Hysaj.
Giuffredi ended the transfer rumours linking his client with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window by revealing the said clause before adding that the matter will be revisited towards next summer.
The clause was part of the £57m deal that took Italian international midfielder Jorginho from Napoli to Chelsea in the summer and it prevents the Blues boss Maurizio Sarri from raiding his former club for players.
Elseid Hysaj has been identified by the Blues as a transfer target in their bid to strengthen the fullback positions.
The 24-year-old was also linked with a transfer to Chelsea when Sarri took charge of the team in the summer but nothing came out of the rumours.
Hysaj is not a stranger to Sarri having played under the Italian tactician at both Empoli and Napoli.
