Manchester United have decided to bring Diogo Dalot to Old Trafford by triggering the £17.5m release clause in his contract at FC Porto.
The 19-year-old is set to become Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer. The Portuguese boss is aiming at taking advantage of the summer transfer window to add more power to his defense department ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
After getting Diogo’s signature, it is believed Mourinho will still go ahead to sign some more defenders before next season comes.
The former Chelsea boss has lost faith in his current options at Old Trafford, and the likes of Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian are expected to leave the club this summer.
After signing Dalot – who is expected to replace Antonio Valencia in the right back position, it is understood Jose nurtures plans to sign a left-back who will be a long-term replacement for Ashely Young as well as a centre-back.

Diogo was born in Portugal some 19 years ago, and the youngster has played for his country at various youth levels.
Dalot joined the Porto academy at the tender age of 9 and has grown gracefully to become a first-team regular at the club.
The Portuguese star is also a versatile player who can effectively play both as a left-back and as a rightback.
His switch should be confirmed any time soon, which will kick-start Manchester United’s interesting summer transfer activity.
