Queen Park Rangers (QPR) manager Steve McLaren has heaped high praise on former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi following his start to life in the English Championship.

The Super Eagles captain has been in superb form for Middlesbrough since he joined them as a free agent during the recently concluded winter transfer window.

John Mikel Obi continued that stellar form at the weekend when he played a big role as Boro defeated QPR 2-0 at home in their league clash thus boosting their promotion hopes.

Speaking after the Championship game, former Boro manager McLaren was impressed with the quality shown by John Mikel Obi before adding that every team needs a player like the Nigerian player.
