The happenings around Manchester United have given reasons for comparison with what is obtainable in the past and what it now.
French star, Paul Pogba is now the talk of the town following his reported rift with Jose Mourinho. This has forced the player open the door for a possible move away from the club.
This development is obviously not going the way United fans would have liked it and they are obviously furious with the Frenchman.
After Cristiano Ronaldo, Pogba is the next big player the club have had owing to their class, value and achievements.
Ronaldo had left the Old Trafford about nine years ago to Real Madrid but he still remains in the heart of the Red Devils far more than Pogba who is currently with the club, if feelers are anything to go by.
Similar to what is currently playing out now, the Portuguese was then linked with a move to Bernabeu following his refusal to commit his future to United after the Champions League final in 2008.
“I don’t promise nothing, I don’t promise nothing to my mum, I don’t promise nothing to the supporters,” he told reporters after United’s memorable win in Moscow. “I want to stay, but the future… no one knows.”
Ronaldo’s words are similar to that of Pogba’s, who said “I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months,” the midfielder said ahead of France’s draw with Germany on Thursday night.
Before Ronaldo eventually left at the end of the 2008 season, he had an outstanding performance at United by scoring 26 goals in the 2008-09 season, helping his side win the Premier League and League Cup, and reached another Champions League final
In this case, Pogba has just won one of world football’s biggest tournaments.
Same as what was obtainable the, Pogba just like Ronaldo has got interest from Spain with Barcelona being mentioned in his own case.
Europa League: See the clubs Chelsea will play in Group L, an easy win?
The major difference between both players which has made Ronaldo a joy in the heart of the United fans is that Pogba is never as committed as the Portuguese was and has yet to make any impact in the club like the Juventus star.
The singular fact that Pogba has yet to deliver any major medal keeps him far from the heart of the fans at Old Trafford and leaving the club now will mean he has not got their blessings as Ronaldo got.
