Jose Luis Gaya

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly ready to spend big on Valencia defender Jose Gaya in the coming January transfer window.

Jose Gaya has been linked to Arsenal for a couple of weeks now but the manager is now convinced he can go for the player and will not be deterred by the price tag on him as he is desperate to replace Nacho Monreal who is already 32 and looking to be inconsistent as a result of injury.

Monreal who impressed this season from the start is now injured and has not featured for the last few games for the North London club which makes it necessary for the Gunners boos to find a replacement for him.

However, Jose Gaya is having an impressive season with the Spanish side and a look seems on the line as he is yet to have a senior football career outside Spain.

The Valencia defender has got a release clause of about £35 million but that will not be an issue to the former PSG boss who is keen to have a replacement for the left full-back knowing that the absence of Nacho Monreal cost the team’s winning run.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old has a contract with the Spanish side until 2023 which could make his price increase.
